Robert began his law enforcement career in January 1973. He was hired by the Johnson County, KS Sheriff's Office in July 1974 and rose to the rank of Major. After retiring as a sworn officer in 2003, Robert began a second career managing the Sheriff's Office Property Room where he remained until 2016 after serving a total of forty-two years in public service. Robert has been married to his wife Susan for forty-seven years. They have two children and five grandchildren.
Jon "Phil" Hodgdon started his career in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter in 1979 with the Mission Fire Department, Inc. He was hired as a full-time firefighter in 1987 by Mission Fire district #1. In 1989, after Mission fire District #1 and Consolidated Fire District #2 merged, Phil rose through the ranks to the position of Fire Chief, where he served for six years. Phil retired in 2013 with thirty-four years as a public servant.
Jennifer was born and raised in Texas. After receiving a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso, she relocated to the Kansas City area. Jennifer is a licensed CPA in Texas and Kansas and has her own practice in De Soto, Kansas. Jennifer is very active in her community. She serves on this board as well as The Keepers Legacy and the Advisory Board of First Responders Support Team-Midwest. Jennifer is married and has one daughter.
Raquel Walters has worked for the Johnson County Sheriff's Office since September of 2017. She started in the Central Records Unit and was then promoted to Executive Assistant to Sheriff Calvin Hayden in May of 2021. To help out in other areas, she also works shifts at the New Century Detention Center. While Raquel is new to this position, she is looking forward to future volunteer opportunities and being a helping hand to the Sheriff's Office as a whole. Raquel resides with her daughter in Overland Park, Kansas.
Travis has been involved in banking and real estate development businesses for over twenty years. He is the Co-Chairman and CEO of TriCentury Bank in De Soto. He has spent several years volunteering as a youth sports coach for soccer, baseball and basketball. Additionally, he has served on many boards, including past President of the De Soto Chamber of Commerce and Past Chair of the Lawrence Catholic Schools Endowment. Travis has also served on the Finance Council at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the Finance Council of the Archdiocese of Northeast Kansas.
Bill began his law enforcement career in 1969 with Kansas City, KS Police Department. In January of 1978, Bill started working at the Johnson County, KS Sheriff's Office Crime Lab as a Deputy Sheriff and Forensic Scientist. He served in this position until his retirement in 2004. Bill then returned to work part-time in the Crime Lab until 2016, completing a forty-seven year career. Bill is married and has three children and seven grandchildren.
“John Z” is an Air Force veteran and a retired Sheriff’s Office Captain. He was in the first graduating class of JCCC and was the first deputy to attend the FBI National Academy. In the span of his twenty-six year career he served in various divisions to include Communications, Patrol, and Investigations, later in command of each, plus Administration and Detention. His most successful assignments were the establishment of the initial civil service personnel operation, establishment of the initial crime laboratory in Mission and to assist in planning / design of various remodeling / construction projects of the 1970s-80s. In retirement he spent several years living in Colorado. After becoming a widower, he returned to Kansas and currently resides in Olathe.
Mike began his law enforcement career at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in 1987. Mike was assigned to numerous positions from Patrol, School Resource Officer, Special Investigations, Investigations, Professional Standards and Personnel during his career. Mike retired in 2018 after 32 years of service. Mike has been married to his wife, Kelly, for over 35 years and have a son, Brandon, and daughter-in-law, Sarah. Mike and Kelly spend their free time running marathons. They each have completed over 100 marathons in every state and several Canadian Provinces as well as Germany and Scotland.
